Onno Vocks Images

Hello, my name is Onno Vocks, that is my entire name, there is no middle name or initial. I was born in The Netherlands and lived there till the age of 5 and then the family moved to Aruba, where I learned several other languages, including the one I’m using now. That was followed by a ten year period where I lived here, there and everywhere, in all, about 17 moves. I ended up finishing High school and College in the U.S.A. and I’m now temporarily back in Europe to help care for my elderly Mother.

Where I’ll go next is a complete mystery to me, right now I’m spending most of my time studying alternative Operating Systems, search engines, the new on-line extortion industry and the various business models they use. Some of my posts will be on that subject, but others will be on the things I encounter on my excursions into my home country, which is largely unknown to me. There are lots of interesting old towns, buildings, water and windmills, some dating back almost a thousand years. Amazing to know that some of these mills are still functional.

While my older posts are a haphazard collection of things I have encountered, I’ll attempt to streamline the subject matter in future postings, but like life, they will most likely continue to be the chaotic collection that they are.

My advice is to never post a real image in combination with a real name, with that in mind I attempted to create this self portrait. Thank you for visiting.

I can’t believe I never saw this page before. Very interesting, Onno. I have two middle names!

The portrait is very engaging, particularly with the black background.

    • It wasn’t there before, hence the name, about-2, you did not miss anything. I still don’t have a calendar widget; Yellow Mustang was my latest.
With 2 middle names, You make up for my lack of a middle name, however, I do see it as an advantage when signing contracts, it’s a real time saver, LOL! Thanks for the kind comment on the portrait.

    • Hi Linda, thanks for returning the favor. I like reading up on the experiences of other expats since I’m a tourist in even my own country, no roots period. I’ll be sure to visit your posts again, take care, Onno.

    ~ ~ Merry Christmas, Onno šŸ™‚

    I truly wish you well.

You know, what you’ve said about posting a real image with a real name above, I realise just how good that advice is. I have not set up my blog with my full real name, yet if I search my first & last name, I can find my blog. This is really a surprise to me.

Anyway! Hope to see a few of your quirky posts next year šŸ™‚ ~ N’n.

    • Hi Noeleen, yes even if you use a pen name it is possible to recognize the machine you are using, the OS, Browser and of course your ISP will log information that tracks back to you. Anonymity is almost impossible to achieve when on line, unless you use an INTERNET connection that does not belong to you, or to someone who knows you. This is why wireless modems are not safe, someone can access them from a parked car in the street.
Merry Xmas and a happy new year to you too.
