Strange Birds, …Submarines.

These Birds spend more time underwater than in the air it seems, and often when you first arrive at the waters edge they are nowhere to be seen, only to make an appearance when they run out of air. Here are 2 lucky shots while I was looking and waiting for some ships to come into view, and sensing a lack of subjects I soon changed my target, knowing that the ships would wait to have their mugshots taken.

The second mugshot was taken moments before diving again. Unlike Submarines, these Birds dive Periscope first.

Love how you call them mugshots 🙂

So sweet and lovely, living quietly away like that and snapped by you. I wonder if they actually breathe under water or if they hold their breath.

    • They have to come up for air, that is the only chance you get to see them. I never timed it, but they can stay down for at least 5 minutes and never come up in the same spot they went down. Thanks for visiting and commenting.
