Mexican Cat

???????????I often wonder what motivates a person to go to great length to create a mugshot in a difficult to manipulate medium. A good example is this Mexican Cat, found on a market in D.F., or Mexico City, that was fashioned entirely in cloth. Each facet was carefully cut out, hemmed and stitched to another piece of cloth to then be attached to a background that also had cut-outs showing different sections of yet another background. The final result is an image that can be appreciated from afar as well as nearby, both for the colorful decoration and the effort to create it. The question still remains, why? I guess the answer is; why not!

LOVE the cat’s eyes in your header.

And why not, indeed – way to live! 🙂

  3. Yes, Mexican folk art can be quite intricate. I used to travel a lot in Mexico with my husband, but we had to stop when it became too unsafe. I now wish we had bought more art when we were there.
Also, thanks for following me. Are you Dutch or do you live in the Netherlands? The photo of the houses in the snow looks Dutch.
